OUR HISTORY

The Paolo VI
Foundation

The Paolo VI Rest Home Foundation (RSA) ONLUS traces its origins to the former "Opera Pia Monte Grano," which became the "Monte Elemosiniere" with a statutory deed dated August 28, 1880, and was administered by the "Congregazione di Carità," established pursuant to Article 26 of Law No. 3 of August 1862. With a resolution dated October 11, 1885, the Congregazione di Carità appointed the first Board of Directors of the newly established "Pio Luogo Ospitale Civile." The latter was endowed with its own statutes on June 4, 1901, and established as a non-profit organization pursuant to Law No. 17 of July 1890. 6972 by royal decree of February 2, 1902. With the bequests and donations of several benefactors, between 1900 and 1905, the Civil Hospital was built in the then-called "Vicolo degli Orti." Over the years, the assets were further increased with new bequests. This allowed for the construction of the current headquarters, completed in 1983, which has since hosted various institutional activities of the Foundation, including the RSA (Retirement and Health Unit). The Foundation was thus established as a Public Assistance and Charity Institution (IPAB), became a non-profit organization in the early 1900s, and was transformed into a private foundation on March 1, 2004.
